A lot can change in 25 years. Markets shift, technology transforms, and entire industries are redefined. What has not changed is Nexon’s drive to stay ahead of the curve. From its humble beginnings as an internet service provider to becoming a nationwide end-to-end IT services provider, Nexon’s journey is one of resilience, innovation and strong partnerships.

Now marking its 25th anniversary, Nexon isn’t just reflecting on how far it’s come. It’s focused on what comes next. Across government, healthcare, midmarket, enterprises and more, Nexon continues to empower organisations with the technology, insights and services they need to lead in an ever-evolving world.

The Nexon journey

Founded in 2000 amid the uncertainty of the dot-com crash, Nexon’s vision was grounded in identifying opportunities while others saw risk. Through its strategic vision, strong leadership and a commitment to clients, Nexon has continued to grow over the years while navigating global and local disruptions.

Over the years, Nexon has made bold moves to stay ahead of the curve, becoming an early adopter of Voice over Internet Protocol technology in 2003, launching its private cloud offering in 2010 and extending its advisory and consulting services business in partnership with Microsoft in 2013. By 2018, Nexon had integrated public clouds into its ecosystem, further boosting its capability to meet evolving client demand.

The company’s next phase of growth was accelerated in 2019, when Nexon joined forces with global investment firm EQT. This partnership has enabled Nexon to scale significantly and deepen its end-to-end service capabilities, spanning cyber security, cloud, business applications, and national service coverage. Since then, five strategic acquisitions have further expanded Nexon’s reach and strengthened its ability to deliver integrated, future-ready solutions across Australia.

Today, Nexon holds multiple IT accreditations, CREST and ISO certifications and is a recognised government IT service provider. With an over 550-person strong team supporting more than 700 customers, Nexon has grown its revenue by 400% over the past five years, demonstrating its success in delivering value-driven outcomes at scale.

A value led culture that drives progress

Nexon has experienced remarkable growth, yet it has successfully upheld its core values, now embraced on a much larger scale. This commitment to maintaining a strong, community-driven culture amidst rapid expansion reflects Nexon’s dedication to fostering a values-driven ethos.

“Staying true to our values has been non-negotiable,” said Barry Assaf, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder at Nexon Asia Pacific. “Nexon has grown fast, but we’ve never outgrown our values. Whether it’s showing up for our clients or showing up for a cause, we’ve been grounded in community, purpose and a passion for doing what’s right. That’s what keeps us focused and ready for the future.”

The sense of community and shared values within Nexon is evident, driving not only success in delivering exceptional outcomes to clients but also a strong commitment towards giving back to society. Through its community-driven model, Nexon engages in meaningful sustainability and charitable initiatives, supporting organisations such as Lifeline, the Epilepsy Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Institute to create shared value beyond business.

Empowering its team members and celebrating their contributions is something Nexon truly believes in. One example is the Passionate Day program, which gives employees an extra day to leverage and utilise by supporting an NFP, such as the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Krazy Kosci Klimb, Children’s Cancer Institute Diamond Ball, Walk for Epilepsy and much more.

These collective efforts have built a supportive and inclusive community, ensuring that every team member feels valued and inspired to contribute both professionally and personally. This is reflected in the tenure of the individuals, some of whom have served for over 15 years.

Strengthening partnerships and delivering value

Nexon’s growth over the past 25 years is a testament to the enduring partnerships with both clients and strategic collaborators, whose trust and engagement have been key to delivering transformative value and empowering shared success.

Many of Nexon’s clients, such as the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Pitcher Partners, government agencies, and more, have been with the company since its inception. These decades-long relationships are a testament to the trust, consistency and innovation that Nexon delivers. With a 98.5% customer happiness score in 2025 and a score of 97.98 in 2024, the results speak for themselves.

Equally important to Nexon’s success are the technology and channel partners throughout its 25-year history. Our vendor partnerships have played a key role in strengthening Nexon’s ability to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing solutions. These long-standing relationships continue to support in delivering immense service value.

“We’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible clients,” said Assaf. “These relationships are instrumental in our success as they enable us to deliver real, measurable value. It’s never just been about delivering technology. It’s about delivering value together.”

What’s next for Nexon?

As Nexon enters its next phase, it remains committed to creating and delivering continuous value to its clients. With deep expertise across cyber security, cloud, data, AI, enterprise service management, customer experience and much more, Nexon is ready to help organisations across Australia achieve both immediate gains and long-term success.

Nexon is focused on deepening its client and partner relationships even further, expanding its investment in scalable platforms that enhance operational and innovation, both internally and for clients. In addition, Nexon is expanding its geographical footprint to bring its high-touch service model to more regions, aligning its teams even more closely with evolving customer needs.

What started with internet services, and a vision, has grown into a technology powerhouse, helping organisations transform, adapt and succeed in a fast-moving digital world. While the scale has changed, Nexon’s mission has not. Looking ahead to the next 25 years, it remains committed to solving complex problems and delivering real value to organisations.

“We’ve come a long way, but we’re just getting started,” said Assaf. “The needs of our clients continuously evolve, and so do the opportunities. What won’t change is our commitment to staying on the front-foot, leveraging emerging technologies to build new capabilities while delivering value every step of the way.”
