As we reflect on the year, we are proud of the progress we’ve made in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued, and empowered to bring their true selves to every interaction. Diversity and inclusion are more than just concepts to us—they are the foundation of an engaged and collaborative workforce, enabling us to connect authentically with colleagues and clients from all backgrounds.
Our dedication to these values extends beyond creating a supportive workplace. It’s about leading by example and giving back to the community, working toward a more equitable future for all. By embracing diversity and inclusion, we’re not just shaping a more productive environment but also contributing to positive change in the world around us.
Our Vision and Commitment
In late 2022, we set a clear goal to enhance our workplace culture by implementing programs that encourage diversity and inclusivity. We identified three key areas of focus to support this vision:
Talent Identification and Hiring
We aimed to refine our hiring processes to attract a broader pool of candidates and ensure a fair and unbiased recruitment process.
Support for Existing Staff
We committed to creating an environment where all employees feel heard, valued, and supported.
Community Involvement
We encouraged our employees to engage with and give back to the community without expecting direct benefits for the organisation.
Our efforts have been driven by the desire to improve employee experience and wellbeing. By fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, we have seen significant improvements in performance, engagement, and agility.
Key Initiatives and Achievements
We’ve collaborated with leading institutions to actively recruit candidates from underrepresented groups, including individuals from diverse backgrounds and those with disabilities. Our commitment to diversity has led to a successful increase in the hiring of qualified women in IT through focused recruitment efforts. Additionally, we’ve made notable strides in enhancing gender diversity within our leadership team, reflecting our ongoing dedication to creating a more inclusive workplace.
In 2023, we launched our first DEIB survey, which confirmed that we are a diverse workforce, with employees from various backgrounds. Among the respondents, 71% positively affirmed that Nexon is an inclusive workplace, while 85% agreed that we are indeed a diverse organisation. Additionally, 81% expressed a clear understanding of how their work contributes to our mission and its significance.
These insights provided a foundation for us to develop meaningful action plans, one of which identified an opportunity to implement performance measurement. This discovery led to the implementation of our new HRIS, which enables performance measurement through 360-degree feedback and the calibration of performance ratings. As we enter this new cycle, we’re eager to see the progress and impact it will bring.
Our surveys highlighted the need to attract and nurture female talent, prompting us to launch EmpowerHER—a dedicated program for women’s growth and development. The success of EmpowerHER has solidified our commitment to continuously supporting and empowering the exceptional women.
We believe in the power of giving back to our community. Our ‘Passionate Day’ volunteer program lets staff choose and engage in community work they’re passionate about, while fostering cross-departmental collaboration. For us, community involvement is central to our purpose and every initiative we create.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward, our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community engagement remains a priority. We will continue to build on the progress we’ve made, striving to create an even more inclusive environment and making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
