Microsoft launched MSN Messenger in 1999 as a competitor to AOL Instant Messenger (AOL), and just one year later, instant messaging entered the corporate world, when it became a feature of Exchange 2000.
A lot has happened since then; with IM becoming just one component of today’s Microsoft’s unified communication solution: Microsoft Lync.
