The Provisioning Process: Step-by-Step

Prepare Your Environment

Before starting the provisioning process, ensure that your Zoom (Pro, Business, or Education account) has a Zoom Phone license, and you have either account owner or admin privileges.

Make sure your desk phone is supported for Zoom Phone and updated to the latest firmware version. Keep in mind that some older versions of Poly models will not work with Zoom Phone. Additionally, if you have a previously-used phone, a factory reset is required to trigger provisioning.

Zero-Touch Provisioning

Zero-Touch Provisioning: Zoom offers an automatic provisioning feature that simplifies the process. Once the device is added, Zoom will automatically send the provisioning details to the Poly desk phone. If you have a previously used phone, a factory reset is required to trigger provisioning.

Notes:

  • Your phone will reboot several times to complete provisioning. After completing provisioning, phones will automatically update their firmware to the latest supported version.
  • By default, Poly devices are configured to receive the new provisioning without restarting the device. However, depending on the setting changes, the device may have to be restarted.
Assisted Provisioning (if necessary)

Assisted Provisioning (if necessary): If you are having issues with zero touch provisioning or your phone doesn’t support it, you can manually configure the device by resetting the phone to factory default, then accessing the phone’s web interface and entering the provisioning URL provided by Zoom.
